The Burning (1981) Review

The Burning (1981) synopsis: “A former summer camp caretaker, horribly burned from a prank gone wrong, lurks around an upstate New York summer camp bent on killing the teenagers responsible for his disfigurement.”

Starring: Brian Matthews, Leah Ayres, Fisher Stevens, and Jason Alexander
Director: Tony Maylam (also Split Second 1992)

Our sleaziest episode to date! Some may even call it a career killer, but not us! Sleaze just comes with the territory when you’re discussing a Weinstein production from the early 80s lol ;p

Corey is showrunning this episode, but he doesn’t actually have any nostalgia for The Burning! This was a movie he discovered during 2020’s quarantine and instantly fell in love with it (because of the sleaze). Zak, on the other hand, does have a nostalgic love for The Burning (because of Tom Savini and the stellar cast of first timers, not the sleaze)!

So, yea… there’s a healthy dose of raunchiness in this review but there’s also a lot of love for Cropsy’s standalone adventure. And there’s a young ‘George Costanza’ with hair in The Burning! Did we mention that? This movie is something truly special, and we hope so is this episode! Let us know what you think of it on Patreon.
